Chadar - 162cm x 187cm x 43cm, stainless steel - 2024

Chadar, meaning ‘Veil’ in Urdu, captures the weight of societal expectations. Twisted, bent, and broken scaffolds, ladders, and bars evoke the oppressive structures that confine individuals. A torn wall of scaffolding leans toward the viewer, symbolising the strain of rigid norms on personal freedom. The work acts as a metaphor for the conflict between personal conviction and societal demands.
